Dr Sarah Chen is a senior optometrist at Eye See You Optometry and the practice's nominated medical reviewer for the patient-facing health content published on this website. After completing a Bachelor of Optometry at the University of New South Wales and a Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics, she practised across hospital outpatients, large-format private clinics and an inner-Sydney general-practice integrated optometry clinic before joining Eye See You Optometry.
Sarah leads the practice's New South Wales in-home and post-operative service, looking after the day-to-day clinical workflow for housebound patients across metropolitan Sydney, Newcastle and the Hunter, the Central Coast, and the regional NSW network. She holds current AHPRA registration, an ocular-therapeutics endorsement, professional indemnity insurance, and a current National Police Check.
As the practice's medical reviewer, Sarah is responsible for the clinical accuracy of the patient and family-facing articles in this site's health content library. Every article is reviewed against current Optometry Australia clinical guidance, the relevant RANZCO and NHMRC position statements, and the Australian Medicare Benefits Schedule item descriptors at the time of review. Where guidance changes, she is responsible for arranging an updated review and an updated reviewed-on date.
Her clinical interests focus on post-operative cataract follow-up at home — particularly the early identification of posterior capsule opacification, intraocular-lens displacement and post-operative refractive surprise — and on glaucoma shared-care between optometry and ophthalmology. She runs the practice's internal teaching round on these topics. She also supervises the practice's workplace and screen-use assessment service, including ergonomic, prescription and safety-eyewear recommendations for employers.
